RSM Babba walks to the Altar after 45 years

The church and well-wishers gathered at St. Peter’s Military Church at Chindit Barracks Zaria on 19th April, 2015 to celebrate with the Babba family. RSM Babba blessed his 45 years marriage at the church. He was not alone in this holy duty, two other military officers joined in the moment. RSM Babba and his wife Mama Rahila were the most spectacle couple at the occasion as they were the oldest among the three.
The story of this family started in 1970 when RSM Babba was far off in the Nigerian Army just at end of the Biafra war a beautiful young bride was married to him and delivered to him by his young brother, who is today the Archbishop of the LCCN Most Rev Nemuel A. Babba. The family started a joyful living and a year later the cry of child was heard in the home.
They have been devoted and committed church members all through the military carrier wherever he served before finally retiring as an RSM at the Nigerian Military School Zaria. RSM Babba who initially felt there was no need for him to walk his beloved wife the altar after staying together for 45 years said he understood the need of the church order and since he belong he could not object to that.
Speaking at the service the Vicar in Charge Capt. (Rev.) HA Isah said the families that were blessed on that occasion were very special families and their testimonies were of good standing and their passion for the things of God made them reputable in the Christian congregation. The Vicar used the opportunity to call on all other members of the church whose marriages were not blessed to identify with the laid down principle of the church and avail themselves since it will not cost them anything to do it. He charged the leaders of the church and whoever will take over the leadership of the church from him to insist on the right thing, which is blessing all Christian couples in the church.
The Archbishop of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria who was also at the occasion to witness the blessing of marriage of his brother told the congregation that the idea of blessing of marriages was for the interest of the couple and it keeps sanity in the body of Christ. He said it was wrong to make anyone an elder in the church without blessing her/his marriage in the church. He charge the clergy and church leaders to ensure that all who presented as leaders in the church or subgroups are people whose marriages are blessed.
