Our Culture is Good in Worship to God

The Archbishop of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN) Most Rev Dr Nemeul Abubakar Babba said God Created people with diverse Cultures in order to enjoy their unique worships. He was speaking at the Cultural Day of the Youths Fellowship of LCCN Arch-Cathedral in Numan Adamawa State Nigeria.

The Youths of the Church annually Organizes Cultural Dance to mark the beginning of the annual Youth Week. This year 2015 the Youth week started on Sunday 24th August, 2015. The Archbishop said, Christianity is full of cultural migration where the Jewish culture, European or American culture always show up depending on which group brought the gospel. He noted that of among all these cultures there is none that is superior to one another. "In Africa we received the gospel thinking that our culture should no longer matter, but we realized that the more we detached ourselves from our original culture the difficult it becomes in demonstrating true worship. We have unique cultures that do not go against the scripture, we are made that way and that is also another form of appreciating God for who we are. I am Black and thank God that I am. Let us continue to worship God in the African way, by so doing we will have seen God as truly as he is. I sometimes wonder why a Crucifix with Christ on it in Africa will carry a white Jesus. Jesus is equally a Black man since he is also savior to the Blacks. God is an African!"

Speaking earlier Rev Vinko Yambabagi a founder of a Christian cultural troop said, "God has been faithful to us. We remember in those days when no one dares to sing or even clap in the Lutheran Church in Nigeria, but today all kinds of musical instruments both contemporary and our traditional music is been used in worship to our God. We say glory to God." He charged parents to inculcate some good cultural norms and values into their children. Mrs Mary Thomas who also spoke at the event thanked God for time like that. She particularly prayed for the Youths in LCCN and the entire Christian body. She asked God to bless them and grant them Long life.
