A university of
Lecturer Mr. Santos A. Larab charged youths to be entrepreneurial as this is
the only way that can guarantee their financial security in the future. He said
this during a seminar organized by the youths of LCCN St Peters Jos as part of
their youth week programme. The Speaker explained that the church has a great
role in building the youths and society financial through training and support.
He observed that instead for the church to focus on the things Jesus was known
for (teaching and healing people for free) people are setting up personal business
in the name of church. He said the Church should be a model of honesty and
sincerity where Christians will be taught virtues that will be reflected in the
world. He wondered why the church would own a school that majority of the
members of that church could not afford to send their wards to. “Yet people
open schools they can’t send their wards to. Pastors are spending Billions of
naira on private jets. Very few have the calling they are all businessmen. The
church must play vital role in making sure that our educational system works.
And only the youths can bring that positive change.” He said schools are not
profit making ventures but a service to humanity.
Mr Larab charged the
youths to respond positively to their challenges first by conquering their
environment. “What is called responsibility is simply your Response Ability.
How you respond positively to a problem.” He stated that the situation of
unemployment will only get worst in the future considering the numbers of
graduates universities are turning out every year and the number of the
unschooled youths that are jobless. “Government cannot employ everyone. That is
why you must learn a trade; do something with your hands and be useful to
yourself and the society.” Said Mr. Larab
